It is delivered by board-certified music therapists and is not reserved for musicians-- nor does it require any prior musical experiences. Dance movement therapy (DMT) is based on the premise that thoughts, feelings and the experience of self are expressed through the body and movement. It is a relational process that integrates emotional, cognitive, physical and social aspects of self.

The DMT approach incorporates knowledge from psychotherapeutic approaches, psychology, sensorimotor and developmental movement, movement analysis and neuroscience. Hi! I’m Tiffany and it’s nice to meet you.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and an Accredited Music Therapist with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists.

In sessions, my goal is to hear you, help you to identify the patterns of experiences that have shaped you, and to organize your thoughts and feelings in a way that strengthens you. I work to provide you with a safe space that is compassionate while empowering you with the courage you need to delve deeper into your healing process.

I use a combination of trauma-informed, resource-oriented, and music-centered approaches while drawing from CBT, and mindfulness techniques.

Given my unique training as a music therapist, I also offer a music-centered approach to psychotherapy that embodies verbal and non-verbal communication. The benefits of music in mental health are vast and there is no requirement for one to be a musician or have musical skills to benefit from music-centered psychotherapy. Music-centered work uses music as a tool to achieve therapy goals and foster growth. Tools used in sessions can include but are not limited to: songwriting, interpreting lyrics, and sharing songs that express what you are going through but maybe can’t put into words. My training as a music therapist ensures the safe and ethical use of music in sessions.

Together we can explore: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, life transitions, stress, self-esteem and self-awareness, and chronic illness.

If you would like to learn more about the psychotherapy or music therapy services I offer, please feel free to reach out to me by email at tiffanymusictherapy@gmail.com.
